Introduction

In this article, Andrew Wood, IPS Specialist from Inclusion’s One Recovery Bucks, discusses the success introducing their new Individual Placement Support service (IPS) has allowed so far within our services.

ORB officially launched its Individual Placement Support (IPS) service in November 2024. We have already received referrals for 83 clients – that’s an incredible 45% of their annual target in just 3 months and recently celebrated our first work placement!

ORB teams quickly recognised the significant benefits that employment can bring to those in recovery by increasing self-esteem, routine, goals, financial stability and new social networks – all of which help to prevent relapse.

But don’t just take our word for it, let’s see what some of those they are working with have to say about them…

“I think they are a fantastic asset to the team. They really get involved in supporting us. An example of this is all three of the team have promoted the benefits of Employment in the ‘Inspire’ group sessions”

-Key Worker,  Aylesbury

“Through the efforts of job searching and keeping in regular contact with my client and sticking with a work plan. My client was able to receive 2 job interviews, 1 for a chef role working at RAF Halton in Wendover and another in Miller & Carter based in Aylesbury. Once receiving the news we went straight into interview prep work, going through regular interview questions and how to properly structure and be confident in providing an answer. They are now nearly 2 weeks into the role and from providing regular updates and supporting them within the role, they are more than happy to have a full-time role that suits preferences and helps to maintain treatment, all while being thankful for the help I have been providing in each step of the way. Stretching from CV and cover letter creation to interview prep to the support being provided whilst in the job”

– IPS Specialist, Aylesbury

“One of the best things my Key Worker did was give me access to another member of staff whose role was to support service users of ORB to find the right employment for them. My worker (Andy) has been incredibly helpful. They have given me mock interviews and tips for interviews, helped me to feel prepared for interviews, with my application for different roles where I have struggled looking”
